Andres Montenegro

Andres Montenegro is a Peruvian-born ceramic artist based in Florida. He earned a BFA in Ceramics from the University of Central Florida in 2016 and an MFA from Bowling Green State University in 2019. He is the co-founder of Spruce Creek Pottery with his wife, Angela Montenegro.

His practice focuses on functional pottery in porcelain and stoneware, exploring the relationship between form, color, and texture through glazes developed from raw materials. Influenced by his experience with soda firing, the landscapes of Peru’s coast, pre-Columbian ceramics,, he approaches each vessel as a landscape, creating surfaces that bring depth, movement, and individuality to objects made for everyday use.
